SI 2018 04

(Ed:  I made a mistake last post by calling those fruits grapefruit.  Someone kindly commented that in fact they are pomelo, which have a naturally thick skin.
I did learn that grapefruit are the result of crossing a pomelo and an orange.)

(Ed: Someone kindly clarified my incorrectly calling the fruit in the last post grapefruit.  It is a pomelo, which has naturally thick skin.  In doing a little research, I learned that grapefruit is the result of pairing pomelo and orange.)

SI 2018 03

Tailend notes from Margaret, the editor of Henk and Margreet's blog.

If, like me, you have wondered why the peel on all the grapefruit we see in the DenOudstens' photos is SO thick, check this site:

http://thecitrusfruits.blogspot.ca/2011/08/why-citrus-fruit-get-thick-peels-and.html

Also,  I have a desire to know exactly where people are.  I want to be able to "see" them.  Well, where they reside.  So, thanks to Henk for the map below, I now can look at the top of their SI "home" and then follow along on their travels as they reveal them to us!  If you share in this interest, look at the map and then you can expand the area by using

https://mapcarta.com/Honiara

or, whatever mapping site you like best.

SI 2018 -2

While browsing, I (Ed.) came across this site.  So much to check and I only began but found my reading to be very interesting.  Some of you will, too, I believe.

Preparing 2018...

Ed: The time is coming close for Henk and Margreet to leave on their 2018 missions trip to Solomon Islands.

First, a fundraising lunch at the church Sunday January 14.  Margreet and Henk and a couple of friends do all the preparation, serving, and clean-up.  A big job but a great way to serve and say farewell to their church family.  Please, if you are able, come out and support them.

Next, on January 18, they leave on a very long, often uncomfortable plane journey to Honiara, the capital of the Solomons.  Please pray for Henk and Margreet through this often difficult time.
