Eksodus Chapter 13:1-6

James, Ashley, and
Henk have gone downtown to run errands. (James and his family have
been working here since ’86). Traffic has increased since we were
here three years ago, so it took half an hour to cover the four km to
the bank.
After getting served we headed toward ‘China town’. We
decided to have lunch there at a road side BBQ place. The chicken and
rice were delicious and the hot sauce to go is lip burning hot!
We
left the car there and walked to an automotive shop for steering
wheel fluid and a few streets over to find us some halogen
replacement lamps. It is fun to watch James barter in fluid Pidgin!
Another stop was at a tv repair shop and from there we visited the
recording studio at the RC diocese offices. It will give us an idea
what will work when we start on our own here at the centre.
We had to pour
almost half a liter of steering wheel fluid into the reservoir: no
wonder it was so very noisy! Silas (our resident Solomon Islander car
mechanic) had removed the battery from that same vehicle to charge it
properly. With everything back in its place we headed back to the
airport: no suitcase and we filled out another ‘missing suitcase’
report.
We had supper with
the Choates’…after playing Quiddlers…fun as always!

Although it is quite
noisy outside during the night is hasn’t bothered us yet: roosters,
dogs, the occasional cat and the constant hum from the fishing fleet
mother ship with its refrigerated cargo holds.
We arrived at the
airport twenty past nine on Saturday morning; perfect timing as the
last passengers were going through customs and we could see our
suitcase on the carousel! Ten minutes later we were back in the car
and on our way home (after some quick shopping).
Great to
unpack..even the cheese had made it!
Henk went down to
the workshop to root around for door knobs and locks…it is quite a
bit messier than the way he had left it three years ago and hopefully
he’ll have some time to straighten things out.
